Executive Summary
Remote "in-home" patient monitoring is a "disruptive" technological innovation that could save the U.S. health care system up to $400 billion a year by increasing medication adherence, reducing avoidable post-acute complications and improving self-care management of chronic conditions, according to a 1new report from Deloitte LLP's Center for Health Solutions. The study cites an online survey of 3,000 adults that found about three-quarters of consumers, especially women and seniors, want more in-home monitoring devices and internet-based methods of managing their health care. A quarter said they would be willing to pay more to physicians for online access to records, e-mail access and same-day appointments
