Bard expands vascular access products unit with SHPI

CR Bard has agreed to acquire vascular access devices company Specialized Health Products International in an all-cash deal worth $68.4m. Bountiful, Utah-based SHPI, which has been supplying Bard with winged infusion sets, posted annual revenue of $18.9m and an operating profit of $4.2m for 2007. Bard's access systems subsidiary, also based in also in Utah, will take on the marketing of SHPI's products. The acquisition will not have an impact on Bard's financial guidance for 2008, said the Murray Hill, New Jersey firm.
