Brazil has launched a survey of all local healthcare vigilance agencies to assess whether quality assurance regulations affecting 19,000 pathology, cytology and other laboratories, across both the public and private sectors, are effective. National regulatory agency Anvisa also hopes to assess how well these have upgraded their facilities in line with standards set in 2005 legislation (internal resolution RDC 302/2005) implementing the "technical regulation for the operation of clinical laboratories".
