Executive Summary
The European Commissioner for Enterprise and Information Society, - which includes the unit responsible for medical device regulation, - Erkki Liikanen, has now left the European Commission to begin a new role as governor of the Bank of Finland. Clinica understands that Olli Rehn, a Finnish Centre Party politician, has been named as his successor, although his appointment has yet to be confirmed. Mr Rehn is currently economic policy advisor to the Finnish Prime Minister. Mr Liikanen is a Social Democrat.
