Texas OTC storage reg

Executive Summary
Final proposed version of the Texas Department of Health's storage and handling requirements for cosmetic-drugs and OTCs to be voted on at the board's Oct. 15 meeting. As expected, the reg has been rewritten to incorporate "very minimum standards" for OTC wholesalers, the DoH said. As originally drafted, the reg would have applied federal pharmaceuticals storage standards to OTCs. CTFA and the Consumer Healthcare Products Association lobbied for less stringent standards at a public meeting earlier this year (1"The Rose Sheet" March 1, p. 10). Once approved by the department, the proposed rule will be published in the Texas Register. A final version could come into effect as early as March 2000
