Japan’s MHLW Committee Concerned About PDMA Staff Shortages

A committee from Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare visited the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Agency Sept. 3. Committee members expressed concerns about lack of staff and insufficient safety measures. Committee member Masumi Mistuguchi noted that only 25 out of the 331 PMDA technical staff are physicians. Another member Yuko Izumi asked to increase public awareness of the relief system for sufferers of adverse events.
