Executive Summary
Boehringer Ingelheim GMBH and GlaxoSmithKline PLC are in discussions about a potential collaboration to create, for use in developing countries, a combination drug candidate to treat HIV infection. The talks are in response to the US's global involvement in the AIDS pandemic via President Bush's proposed €12.6bn ($15bn) Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief.
