Executive Summary
In its largest of a recent string of acquisitions, Hungarian pharmaco Gedeon Richter will issue 6.2mm of its shares to buy 99.65% of Polish generics player Polpharma SA for approximately $1.34bn or almost four times its 2006 revenues of $339mm. The merger will create the number two player in the Polish pharmaceutical market--right behind GSK in terms of market share.
