The Belgium-based biotech needs to do more with its plentiful cash pile than just “fairly small transactions” to boost its promising but very early-stage pipeline to inspire investors, according to one analyst.

After decades of lackluster start-up innovation despite award-winning science, Japan’s government and big pharma players are taking steps to spur biotech growth. 

Plus deals involving Menarini/VenatoRx, Orion/Glykos, Roche/MOMA, Janssen/Elektrofi, Galapagos/BridGene along with 13 other transactions.

Japan’s largest biopharma R&D hub has been in active discussions with Korean bioventures for possible collaboration in the cell and gene therapy area. The idea, also backed by the Korean government, started with a paradigm shift during the pandemic.
